Miss J. Schrapstein Gudema?

This following is an open question, of who is Miss J. Schrapstein Gudema, sent to me by Johan Withaar, looking to figure this out.  This updated as of August 2011.  Johan is looking for any information about J. Scrapstein Gudema, who was last seen at a cave, which was used by Gudema family members during the second world war as a hiding place in northern Holland.  Please let us know if you have an answer.

Hello Daniel

I am Dutch and my English is bad.

But i’ll try.
I hope you understand me en can help me.

I am trying to find out two people, in Dutch called: “Moos en Saar” Gudema. They were married.
During Worldwar II they stayed (with more people) a view months (years?) in a cave in “het Valtherbos”, a forest near the city Emmen in the north of the Netherlands.
I have some pictures of that cave.

The only thing that I knew was that they, before Worldwar II, lived in “Ter Apelkanaal” (a small place in the Netherlands)

All the while I found out, thanks to the municipality administration, that “Moos” could be Mozes Gudema (1876-1949).
He disappeared 9 december 1942 (the administration: “leaved, where unknown”).
Mozes Gudema his wife was unfortunately not Saar, but Dina de Levie (1878-1953).
So I need more certainty that Mozes and Dina are the people that I am looking for.

I also found out that Mozes and Dina became a doughter: Jette Hendeltje Gudema (born 03-02-1918).
The first letter of her first name is a J (from Jette).
That was a new starting point, because in 2004 the cave is restored and opened by an older woman called J.Schrapstein Gudema.
Perhaps the doughter?????
The first letter is also a J, but I don’t know her first name. (I still have a picture of this woman).
The local newspaper wrote in 2004 that miss J.Schrapstein Gudema lived in Israel.
I think she will be dead….

Daniel do you have information or relations that can help me?

Johan Withaar
Emmen, Netherlands.

Note: I found Mozes and Dina at gudema.com but not the four children.

Johan,
My brother and I have several contacts in Israel and in northern holland we can forward you to, plus a relatively close relative in Groningen.  We also have about 20 Gudema related relatives living in Amsterdam.  Most of our research was conducted in 1991, on a trip to Groningen and Statz Kanal.  About a year ago, we received a detailed letter about a Max (who could be Mozes) Gudema and what happened to him.  There was a woman in Israel, who I will put you in touch with, who was his niece.  So, we will email you some additional contacts and related emails as soon as we can.

Dan Gudema
